immunizations are up to date, or have a valid exemption. You must also ensure that Ottawa Public Health has the updated records.
As of Wednesday, February 8th, schools are required to issue suspensions for students whose immunization records are not up to date. These suspensions are by order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ottawa and we have to comply with the law. Students may not return to school until Ottawa Public Health notifies us that they can. A parent's claim that immunizations are up to date is not sufficient; again, the obligation is for the parent to send records of immunization to OPH.
Parents may direct questions to Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744.
